A Curving Wall of Dahlias in Pink Peach and Cream

Floral Design Spotlight · Hannah Berry Flowers

A strong curve can turn many flower heads into one clear composition. Hannah Berry Flowers and Hedgerow and Bloom gather pink, peach and cream dahlias against dark blue boards in this sweeping floral study.

Let the curve hold the many colors together

The flower heads follow a broad bending line instead of covering the whole background. That clear route gives the varied pink, peach and cream tones a shared direction.

Mix flower sizes along the same line

Small rounded heads sit beside much larger pointed-petal blooms. Their changing scale gives the curve detail while the repeated flower forms keep it recognizable as one connected composition.

Use a dark background to define pale petals

The blue boards show clearly beside the flowers. Their darker color makes the cream and blush heads stand out, while the straight wood lines contrast with the softer floral curve.

Try the idea in your own style

Draw a broad curve on paper and place small colored circles along it. Mix a few large shapes among the smaller ones and leave the surrounding paper visible. Explore the composition as a sketch rather than trying to reconstruct the wall mechanics.

This is our suggested design exercise, not the creator’s recipe or a reconstruction of their method.
