An Open Bouquet Built Around a Golden Center

Floral Design Spotlight · Passionflower Sue

A visible golden disk becomes part of the design in this Passionflower Sue bouquet study. Peach, purple and pale green flowers reach away from it in separate directions.

Make the center worth seeing

The round gold element isn't hidden beneath a dense bunch of flowers. Its simple shape gives the surrounding stems a shared starting point and introduces a smooth surface among the petals.

Let individual flowers take a turn

Several blooms sit well apart from their neighbors. That spacing lets us notice a curved peach flower, a dark purple cup and a fine blue cluster as separate details.

Balance above and below

The design extends both upward and below the hand. The lower purple flower matters: it draws the eye down and gives the composition a longer outline than a conventional round posy.

Try the idea in your own style

Draw a small circle and arrange five paper flower shapes around it at different distances. Try a dark shape below the center. Study the balance without attempting to reproduce the creator's specialized armature.

This is our suggested design exercise, not the creator’s recipe or a reconstruction of their method.
