Autumn Leaves Pink Flowers and Airy Seed Heads on a Mantel
Floral Design Spotlight · Catkin Flowers
A mantel gives flowers room to travel sideways. Catkin Flowers fills this one with autumn leaves, pink blooms and fine seed heads, then lets a few stems wander beyond the main grouping.

Let warm leaves carry color below the flowers
Orange and brown leaves hang beneath the fuller flower heads. Their broad surfaces bring the autumn palette down over the mantel edge and give the design a clear downward movement.
Use tiny details above the main line
Fine stems and small dark heads rise above the pink flowers. Their open spacing makes the top feel lighter than the gathered leaves and larger flower shapes below.
Allow the mantel's shape to remain visible
We can still see pale architectural details beneath the arrangement. Those firm horizontal lines give the loose stems a setting and help us understand how far the flowers spread across the room.
Try the idea in your own style
Draw a mantel line and sketch a low flower grouping across it. Add a few fine stems above and broad leaf shapes below. Compare those directions on paper before planning a real display with suitable support and a safe position away from heat.
