Orange Dahlias and Pale Yellow Blooms in a Window Display

Floral Design Spotlight · Jenni Bloom Flowers

Orange flowers can feel lively beside a few pale yellow heads. Jenni Bloom Flowers gives this window display an uneven upper edge, mixing rounded blooms with larger pointed-petal shapes.

Let a few taller flowers change the outline

The highest orange heads sit well above the fuller lower grouping. Their visible stems make the display feel open at the top rather than following one even rounded edge.

Mix different kinds of petal shape

Tightly rounded heads sit beside flowers with longer, more pointed petals. The repeated warm colors connect them, while those different surfaces give us several kinds of detail to enjoy.

Keep the palest heads near stronger orange

Cream and yellow flowers sit among much richer warm tones. Their lighter color creates small pauses within the orange, helping the whole grouping remain readable instead of becoming one continuous bright patch.

Try the idea in your own style

Try a small warm-colored arrangement with one pale flower tucked near its brightest head. Raise a second flower above the group and compare the outline. If you include candles in a display, keep flowers and other materials safely clear of flames.
