Pink Lapel Flowers with a Clear Central Detail
Floral Design Spotlight · Passionflower Sue
In this small wearable study, Passionflower Sue pairs pink tulip shapes with broad, patterned orchid petals. A pale round element gives the middle a crisp point of focus.

Mix broad and narrow shapes
The orchid petals spread sideways while the tulip forms point upward and down. Those different proportions make a small piece interesting without needing a large number of separate colors.
Let one smooth shape interrupt
The plain circular center contrasts with the flower surfaces around it. It gives the eye a quiet resting place and makes the surrounding petal markings feel more detailed.
Use the ends to lengthen the piece
A smaller flower detail hangs below the main cluster. That little extension changes the outline from a compact patch to a longer piece, which suits the narrow area being considered.
Try the idea in your own style
Draw a narrow lapel-shaped area on paper. Place two broad flower shapes and three smaller pointed shapes inside it, leaving a simple circle visible near the middle. Compare the balance before adding more.
