Pink Tulips Reaching Above a Low Spring Flower Bowl

Floral Design Spotlight · Catkin Flowers

A single pink tulip rises like a small exclamation point above this spring bowl. Catkin Flowers lets the other flowers lean outward, giving the whole piece an easy, wandering shape.

Save a clear place for the tallest flower

The high tulip stands against the dark wall, with very little crowded around its head. That quiet background makes its simple upward gesture easy to see even among the many smaller flowers.

Balance the reach with a low base

Rounded cream and apricot flowers gather close to the pale bowl. Their fullness gives the arrangement a settled center while leafy stems extend well beyond the vessel on either side.

Let small colors make connections

Little blue and white flowers appear between the larger pink and peach faces. Those modest touches help the eye travel through the arrangement without adding another large shape to compete with the tulip.

Try the idea in your own style

Sketch a low bowl with a broad group of flowers above it. Add just one tall tulip shape, then place a few tiny blue marks between the larger heads. Notice how little color is needed to connect them.
