Floral Design Spotlight · Blue Poppy Florist

Let the containers help tell the color story
The warm brown pots remain visible near the ground. Their simple earthy color gives the brighter pink and blue flowers a quieter base and connects the grouping with the stone setting.
Use several kinds of upward movement
Tall narrow flower spikes rise beside broader leaves and rounder heads. Those different shapes make the grouping feel varied without requiring every stem to carry a different color.
Allow foliage to reach past the flowers
Leaves stretch into the open background above and beside the colored blooms. That extra reach makes the display feel connected to a larger garden-like outline rather than confined to a tight mound.
Try the idea in your own style
Group a small flowering vase beside a potted leafy plant. Compare their outlines before adding another item. Try changing their relative heights and leave part of each container visible so the flowers, leaves and vessels all have a place.
