Trumpet Lilies and Ruffled Flowers in a Tall Arrangement
Floral Design Spotlight · Vervain
Long trumpet flowers give Vervain's pale arrangement a strong sense of direction. Ruffled flowers and smaller clusters gather below them, making the upper lines feel even more distinct.

Let the trumpets point different ways
Some lily flowers open outward while others turn or hang slightly. Those changing angles give the arrangement depth and keep the tall portion from feeling like a row of identical upright stems.
Build a fuller lower area
Smaller pale flowers and ruffled heads collect around the middle and base. Their denser texture provides a visual starting point for the longer lines extending above and beyond them.
Keep the color changes gentle
Peach, cream, pink and pale yellow move softly between the different flower forms. Because the colors don't compete strongly, the contrast between a trumpet and a ruffle becomes the main detail.
Try the idea in your own style
Draw a full pale base with three trumpet-shaped flowers reaching away from it. Point each one differently. Study the lines on paper before deciding how much lower texture the composition needs.
