Compact Blue w/ Eye Lobelia: Plant Profile and Care
Compact Blue w/ Eye Lobelia — Lobelia erinus — Laguna Compact Blue with Eye / Royale Blue Pearl. Proven Winners explicitly records Laguna Compact Blue with Eye as the former name of Royale Blue Pearl. Its deep-blue flowers have a white eye, and the plant forms a compact mound. The breeder lists 8–12 inches tall and 10–12 inches wide.
Light and placement
The breeder lists part sun to sun.
Water and growing medium
Allow the soil surface to dry before watering again and avoid keeping the growing medium wet.
A confirmed name change helps with future research
Keep the original catalog name and the newer name together in your plant notes. That makes it possible to find the current maintenance guidance without assuming a similarly colored lobelia is the same plant. The breeder says deadheading is unnecessary and notes that very warm nights may interrupt flowering.
Choosing the plant for your space
Compare the identity on your plant label with the botanical name above. A pot diameter identifies the container offered for sale; it does not establish the plant’s mature size or a named cultivar. Before choosing a permanent place, consider the light there, the available room and how you will check the growing medium. The source links below provide further botanical context.
