How We Got Our Name

16 Jan , 2021

Picking a name for a business is kind of a make or break moment. There are so many things to consider. Will people know what it means? What we sell? Will they make a connection? Will it make an Impression? Is it a true representation of who we are? First, we followed the rules. Blessed Blooms is an alliteration. The two similar sounding words draw you in. But it is so much more than that.

When we were just starting with the idea of starting this business, I was working at a farm co-op here in Southern Illinois. I ran my ideas by one of my coworkers. When I got to Blessed Blooms she said “Oh, and you can have your grandpa “bless” the land you are growing the flowers on”, knowing he is a pastor…

I stopped in my tracks, and I knew this was the one. The land we grow the flowers on actually belongs to my Papa. He and my Granny have raised a God fearing family that includes four generations (so far) on that land. They are the most true and real people I have ever known. You see, the land is already “Blessed” beyond measure. Blessed Blooms Flower Farm harvests its “fruit” from extremely rich soil, and I can’t think of a more fitting name.

2 Corinthians 9:6

But this I say: He who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and he who sows bountifully will also reap bountifully.
